Capiz clergy receives K of C scholarship grant
ROXAS CITY – Rev. Fr. Edsel V. Delfin, rector of St. Pius X Minor Seminary here, has received a scholarship grant from the Knights of Columbus Fr. George J. Willmann Charities Inc. in Manila.
Delfin, 36, is a second degree member of the K of C of Mt. Carmel Council No. 9279 based at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in this city.
He was recommended for the scholarship as candidate applicant of the archdiocese of Capiz by Most Rev. Onesimo C. Gordoncillo, D.D., archbishop of Capiz and endorsed by District Deputy Bienvenido P. Cortes, V-l39, of the K of C in Roxas City.
Delfin, who teaches Spanish in the seminary, joined the K of C on March 25, 2000. He served as assistant chaplain of Council No. 369l and is covered with KCFAPI insurance plan.
Ordained priest in 2000, Delfin said he is thankful to the K of C for the opportunity to further his spiritual growth particularly on Sacred Liturgy. He has been involved in the archdiocese of Capiz as master of ceremonies.
He is planning to take a Licensure in Sacred Liturgy at San Anselmo University in Rome starting academic year 20l0 to 2011.
Delfin is the second clergy from Capiz province to avail of the K of C scholarship, after Rev. Fr. John Azarcon, who is now assigned at the Sancta Maria, Mater et Regina Seminarium in Brgy. Cagay, Roxas City.
With more than l.8 million members, the K of C is the world’s largest Catholic organization, providing members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people.
In 2009, the K of C at all levels of the organization raised and distributed millions of dollars to charity and rendered millions of hours of volunteer service.
