Women micro-entrepreneurs in Ajuy receive P1.185-M aid
A group of entrepreneurs from Ajuy, Iloilo recently received more than P1.185 million assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development 6.
The group, called the “Ajuy SEA-Kabayan Inc.” is composed of 37 micro-entrepreneurs. It is a merger of two Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran Associations, namely Nasidman Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran and La Isla Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran.
Both groups, based in Brgy. Nasidman, Ajuy, are into making and selling dried fishes.
They received a total of P370,000 for micro-enterprise, P40,000 for housing improvement, and P775,000 for basic shelter under DSWD’s SEA-K Level II.
DSWD Regional Director Minda Brigoli said that when members of SEA-K associations reach level II, it means they are good payers.
“They have fully returned to DSWD the capital assistance extended to them and were able to generate a capital build-up. The SEA-K Level II is a reward to good performing SEA-K associations like La Isla and Nasidman,” Brigoli said.
Records of the DSWD 6 Field Office show that Nasidman SKA had accrued a capital of P98,925 while La Isla SKA had a capital build-up of P71,742.
In Ajuy alone, 14 barangays were able to avail of SEA-K. These include Punta Buri, Silagon Bay, Luca, Pinay Espinosa, Pantalan Nabaye, Pili, Bato Biasong, Pantalan Navarro, Pinantan Diel, Mangorocoro, Tagubanhan, Pedada, Culasi and Nasidman.
“We are happy for these two groups. While you are given another round of capital assistance, you are also given funds for your house improvement. May you continue to be responsible in using the money that the government is releasing to you just like what you did when we first released the assistance,” Brigoli told the beneficiaries.
