Agents raid Guimaras marijuana operation
Anti-drug operatives discovered the illegal drug operation of a marijuana dealer early morning yesterday at his house in Brgy. East. Valencia, Buenavista, Guimaras.
Arrested was Rene Tumangan, 30, who was cultivating three marijuana plants between four to five feet tall.
The operation was conducted by members of the Regional Special Operations Group led by Chief Insp. Jay Agcaoili and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 headed by Regional Director Paul Ledesma.
Agcaoili said they knew about the suspect’s trade about five weeks ago from
an informant who reported that Tumangan has been selling marijuana in Guimaras province.
When a poseur-buyer tried to buy marijuana leaves, Tumangan told the “customer” to wait for a few more weeks because the leaves haven’t dried yet. He also told the “customer” that he has a backyard marijuana plantation.
An eight-day surveillance followed until a buy bust was conducted after the poseur-buyer was able to buy marijuana leaves from the suspect.
“It was still fresh. We had it tested at the Crime Laboratory and confirmed it to be marijuana,” Agcaoili said.
Ledesma said Tumangan is not on their watchlist of illegal drug personalities in Guimaras.
“His name came up just recently after we received reports of a pusher who sells marijuana to students,” he added.
Tumangan had no previous police records.
