Form new economic centers, IBC urges city government
The Iloilo Business Club is urging the Iloilo city government to decongest Iloilo City by improving other economic centers.
Leah Lara, IBC executive director, said the city government should consider clearing and giving space to the old central business district by improving other areas of the city even up to the outskirts and boundary of nearby towns.
“We feel that it’s important to decongest Iloilo and look for new areas of activities and economy,” Lara said.
She said this could be achieved by improving the road networks all over the city.
Lara added that the city should lobby for the Department of Public Works and Highways to include all Iloilo City road networks in their projects.
The IBC pointed out that business infrastructures and investors among the small and medium enterprises should be encouraged, she said.
Lara said the city government should distribute economic activity to other areas so as to distribute income and investment aside from the usual business site such as in city proper and the Diversion Road in the Mandurriao district.*PNA
