Forum lauded for bridging info gap
ROXAS CITY – Residents of Brgy. Talon, Roxas City expressed gratitude to the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers for bringing government information to their community.
Brgy. Capt. Raoul Santos said they are happy with the “Hinun-anon sa Barangay” as they are given the opportunity to listen to the different government services.
Santos said this is also the first time that a “hinun-anon” (barangay forum) was conducted in their community not only for them to listen to government information officers but also for the government to listen to their queries and needs.
Councilor Matthew James Viterbo, a former barangay captain, also expressed appreciation for the initiatives of the CAGPIO and the Philippine Information Agency in bringing the government closer to the people, thus bridging the information gap.
Viterbo said that through the undertaking, all the issues and concerns of the people in the barangay could be brought to the proper authorities for appropriate action as a form of feedbacking.
The Hinun-anon sa Barangay in Talon focused on Disaster Preparedness and Management, particularly on health, fire, earthquake and the government’s response to it.
The key speakers included Department of Health representative Dr. Rosemarie Delfin, Provincial Health Information Officer Jeoffry Espiritu, Inspector Marlon Garbo of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine Volcanology and Seismology head Ramil Atando, PhilHealth representative Jeoffrey dela Cruz.
Hinun-anon sa Barangay is a community-based information, education and communication activity of the CAGPIO in partnership with the PIA to address the information needs of the people, especially those in the far-flung areas.*PIA
