Man says contacts robbed him, took away his vehicle
A businessman claimed that he was robbed Friday evening while in a business transaction along Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Wilson Ares, 47, a resident of Pavia town who is into car trading, claimed that he was looking for cars to be sold when his business partner Rey Lozada, also a resident of Pavia, introduced him to a certain Angelica San Lorenzo.
Last August 13, Ares met San Lorenzo at a mall in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
The two then decided to proceed to Barbecue Park restaurant at B. Aquino Avenue in Mandurriao.
In the restaurant, the two met San Lorenzo’s male friend but the victim claimed he could not identify the latter.
The said male friend then mentioned to Ares that they would go to a certain area in Mandurriao to meet the prospective seller of a vehicle.
The three immediately boarded Ares’ Mitsubishi Adventure with plate number FGC-221.
But instead of proceeding to the area, Ares claimed that they fetched another male friend of San Lorenzo at Iloilo Supermart in Molo district.
After a while, the last man they fetched declared a holdup and took his mobile phone and cash amounting to P20,000.
The suspects left him in Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo and took his vehicle away.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, said they are yet to confirm if the incident really occurred.
Some investigators hinted that Ares might just be creating a scenario just like what Febe Bautista, a seaman’s wife who claimed she was abducted and held-up, did.
It was gathered that Ares is yet to present documents for his ownership of the “carnapped” vehicle.*
