Aquaculture insurance available soon: PCIC
Aquaculture producers will soon be covered by the crop insurance being offered by the Philippine Crop Insurance Corp., a report of the Philippine News Agency said.
Charlito Brilleta, PCIC regional officer-in-charge, said they are just waiting for the fund for the program to take off following its approval.
The program is expected to start within the year.
At present, the PCIC offers six major insurance for palay, corn, 44 high value commercial crops, agricultural facilities, and even for farmer-members.
While waiting for the new program, the PCIC has encouraged farmers to visit agriculture offices of local government units (LGUs) to learn more about the PCIC programs.
Brilleta said they have accredited underwriters from LGUs and from farmer cooperatives who can help farmers interested in availing the various insurance programs of PCIC.*
