Ivisan village chief gets award for blood donation program
IVISAN, Capiz – Poblacion Sur village chief Elmor Buloso has received an award from the Department of Health for initiating blood donation activities.
Mayor Felipe Neri Yap said Buloso was awarded for his initiative to regularly hold blood donation services in his barangay.
“I did not expect the award and (I did not know) the DOH was aware of my initiative,” Buloso, 48, told The News Today.
The first-term village chief said that when he assumed office in 2007, he conducted bloodletting activities among residents three times a year in cooperation with the Philippines Red Cross.
Many of his constituents availed of the blood cards given for free to patients in need of blood especially those with dengue fever.
Yap said that Buloso will be given recognition during the town fiesta in September.*
