4 WV hospitals set up dengue fast lanes
The Department of Health-Center for Health Development 6 said four government hospitals in Western Visayas have established dengue fast lanes to provide immediate attention to patients.
Dr. Marlyn Convocar, health assistant regional director, said the fast lanes will also attend to patients showing signs and symptoms of dengue.
Convocar said those feeling signs and symptoms that can be attributed to dengue such as fever should see a doctor or seek treatment in hospitals.
Fast lanes are now open in DOH-maintained hospitals, including the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City, Western Visayas Sanitarium in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, Don Jose Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, and the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
The dengue fast lanes are among the measures undertaken by the DOH to address the high dengue incidence in the region.
As of last week, the DOH through its various reporting units have monitored 7,605 dengue cases with 49 casualties in Western Visayas.
Convocar said the DOH 6 has been conducting intensified information and education campaign, especially on the “4S” initiative against dengue.
The 4S is an acronym for search and destroy referring to breeding places of Aedis Aegypti mosquitoes; seek early treatment; self-protection; and say no to indiscriminate fogging.*PNA
