9 WV entries to compete in national inventions tilt
Seven inventions and researches from Western Visayas will compete in the 2010 National Invention Contests and Exhibits.
The seven entries are among the 13 qualifiers announced during the culminating rites of the recent 2010 Visayas Islands Invention Contests and Exhibits held in Iloilo City, participated by 84 entries from Regions 6, 7, and 8.
The three entries of Ramon Uy of Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City are the region’s qualifiers for the outstanding utility model category. Uy’s entries include A Pedal Driven Mobile Shredding Device (Bike Shredder); A Shredding and Pulverizing Machine assembly; and Mobile Rock Crushing Device.
For the outstanding creative research (LIKHA Category), qualifiers from Western Visayas are the entries Valve Spring Remover with Seal Puller of Jogie Cubar of the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, Iloilo City, and Bio Power-Up Fuel Additive of Engr. Paolo Petalver and Engr. Dioscoro Maranon of West Negros University, Bacolod City.
Qualifiers for the outstanding creative research (SIBOL-College) category are the group of Geralyn Recate of Central Philippine University, Iloilo City for Microcontroller-based GSM Monitoring Device, and Naimah Karina Negad, Marynit Rivera, Clyde Silverio and Anthon Mark Jay Rivas of UPV-Leyte, UPV-Iloilo City, UPV-Miag-ao.
In the high school category, qualifiers are Pamela Aya Bernada, Karla Maei Magsipoc and Bernadette Anonoy of Capiz National High School for Alternative Computer Ink from Indigenous Materials and Patrick Anthony Alcantara of Antique National High School for Screening of Abutra Arcangelisia flava (Linn.) Merr Stemwood Extract for Wound Healing Activity for Mice.
Each qualifier received P10,000, plaque of recognition and trophy which were handed to them by Technology Technology Application and Promotion and Institute Director Edgar Garcia and Science and Technology 6 Director Rowen Gelonga during the closing ceremonies.
