Antique women’s group gets livelihood fund from DSWD
A women’s group in Laua-an, Antique recently received a seed capital of P130,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 to jumpstart their livelihood project.
The recipients are members of the Union Libertad Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) Association.
“We are happy to receive the capital assistance from the national government. We vow to use this money in our livelihood project and we will see to it that this will grow. Through this, we hope to send our children to school and rise above poverty,” Daisy Jane Sumadya, one of the group members, said.
Union Libertad SKA is composed of 30 women involved in mat weaving, food processing, and buy and sell business.
“You have to strive to make the seed capital grow. We, at the DSWD, have seen successful SEA-K associations. Members were able to send their children to college and were even able to buy their wants and not just their needs. We want you to be one of the successful SEA-K associations,” DSWD 6 Regional Director Minda Brigoli said.
Laua-an Mayor Norberto Raymundo Jr. said the municipal government will provide a counterpart P130,000 to fund group’s other project in Brgy. Lindero.*
