St. Paul, WVSU top performers in nurse exam
Two schools in Iloilo City were among the top performers in the Nurse Licensure Examination held last July 3 and 4, according to the Professional Regulation Commission, which released the results last Friday.
St. Paul University Iloilo ranked first out of the five schools that posted a 100 percent passing rate for schools with 30 to 99 examinees.
All of SPUI’s 68 examinees passed, although no one from among them placed in the top ten.
Other schools behind SPUI, which also has a passing rate of 100 percent, are University of the Philippines-Manila, Philippine Christian University-Manila, Mindanao State University-Iligan State Institute of Technology, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig.
Meanwhile, West Visayas State University placed second among the three top performing schools with 100 and more examinees, posting a 99.36 passing percentage.
Only one out of the school’s 156 examinees failed. All 155 passers are first-time takers, two of whom made it to the top ten.
Stela Joy Ramirez Engada placed seventh, with a rating of 85.2 percent, while Ana Jeska Sana Peñaranda, ninth, 84.8 percent.
The two other schools with WVSU in the top three are Chinese General Hospital College of Nursing and Liberal Arts, which ranked number one, and University of Sto. Tomas, number three.
Meanwhile, University of Iloilo has an overall passing rate of 22.4 percent, with 97 passers out of its 433 examinees.
Fifty-six out of 110 of its first-time examinees passed (33.73 percent) while 41 out of its 226 repeat takers passed (15.36 percent).
Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital has overall passing percentage of 28.45 percent – 136 passed out of its 342 examinees.
Out of its 26 first-time takers, 17 passed (65.38 percent) while 119 of its 333 repeaters passed (26.33 percent).
University of San Agustin posted an overall passing rate of 60 percent, with 51 passers out of its 85 examinees.
Among the 28 first-time takers, 20 passed (71.43 percent) while 31 of its 57 repeaters passed (54.39 percent).
In its website, the PRC said 37,679 examinees out of 91, 008 passed the examination given by the PRC-Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga last month.*NLG
