Int’l developer eyeing Neg.Occ.
Negros Occidental has been identified as one of the prospective locations of an integrated international retirement facility.
Dindo Ilagan, chairman of Diggs-Jansen, said the geographical location, existing facilities, climate and people, make up for the important factors that made Negros Occidental a candidate for a possible location.
Ilagan said a team has been going around and conducting surveys in the province to validate the existence of these essential factors.
Since May 2010, Ilagan said he accompanied a representative of a Japanese company who made an ocular survey of Negros Occidental, Cebu City and Davao City.
Retirement business is a multi-million dollar industry. The Philippines’ neighboring countries like Malaysia and Thailand have been capitalizing on this opportunity. If this is given the right support, it could transform the economy in a single province or district into a booming economy.
Agri-Project
Meanwhile, the provincial government of Negros Occidental is looking for a 150-hectare lot for agricultural development project in line the NEGROS FIRST Priority Development Agenda of Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon Jr.
Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan said the property must be accessible to the national highway with available water and power supply.
The land must be a titled property and not transferred to agrarian reform beneficiaries, and must be situated within the City of Talisay or the towns of Don Salvador Benedicto and Murcia.
Interested property owner may submit offer to sell at the Office of the Provincial Administrator in Bacolod City not later than Sept. 5, 2010 for evaluation by the committee.*
