City has more than 10,000 new SK voters
The Commission on Elections in Iloilo City said that more than 10,000 youths have registered for the Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25.
Acting Election Officer Bert Arbis said they have registered 10,501 SK voters.
Qualified SK voters are those between 15 and 18 years old.
Arbis said the number of new SK voters shows that many young people want to practice their voting rights.
Meanwhile, the city has 3,198 registrations for new regular voters.
The City COMELEC office has also processed 1,083 applications for transfer of voting venue, including voters coming from cities and municipalities outside Iloilo City.
Eight hundred seven city residents have transferred their voting precincts to other barangays, while 170 voters have changed their status into married or widowed.
Also, 265 voters have been reactivated after they failed to vote for two consecutive elections.
Arbis said his office is ready for the manual voting during the elections next month.
This will be very easy because the manual voting has been practiced for years now, he said.
The filing of the certificate of candidacy is on October 1 to 13, while the campaign period for the barangay and SK election is on October 14 to 23.*PNA
