Police probes village chief’s suicide
The Barotac Viejo Police Station is digging further into the alleged suicide of Puerto village chief Jueddy Jubaton at their residence last Friday.
Town police chief, Insp. Wilfredo Rios, said probers will look into a possible foul play despite his family’s claim that Jubaton, 43, shot himself using a caliber .45 pistol.
Before the incident, he was cooking something at the kitchen behind their house because it was his wife’s birthday.
Shortly later, his family members heard a gunshot.
His wife initially thought that Jubaton indiscriminately fired his gun like he
did before. But when his family members checked on him, they saw the blooded Jubaton with a gunshot wound on his head.
His wife said her husband told her about a threat on his life and that four persons have tried to kill him.
But Jubaton failed to reveal the identities of the alleged assailants and the reason why they wanted him killed.
Last Thursday, his family observed that Jubaton was acting strangely and stayed awake the whole night.
He may have suffered a nervous breakdown because of the threat on his life, his family said.*
