NFA Iloilo gets P43M for rice buying
The National Food Authority-Iloilo has received P43 million from its central office for rice procurement during the harvest season.
NFA Iloilo Manager Hedy Jardeleza said they will soon call for a meeting of farmers so they could start with the procurement in some municipalities in the province, where there is sporadic harvest.
The municipalities of Banate, Dingle and other rice producing towns in Iloilo province whose farmers were able to use the Kabsaka technology or dry seeding are now starting harvest.
Iloilo province has a total 127,211 hectares of lowland area devoted to rice production. But because of the El Nino phenomenon, majority of the farmers delayed planting by two months.
For farmers who used the dry seeding technology, however, they are now enjoying the harvest.*
