City PESO launches brgy-based job fairs
The Iloilo City Government through the Public Employment Service Office will launch today its barangay-based job fair project.
Dubbed “Trabaho sa Barangay,” it is expected to bring employment opportunities to city villages that job fairs usually don’t reach.
The kick-off activity will be held at Sto. Niño Norte covered gymnasium in Arevalo district at 4 pm, in partnership with ABS-CBN’s “Kapamilya sa Barangay” program.
Hundreds of openings for management trainees, restaurant work, engineering jobs, mall employment, and other skilled professions will be available from three local agencies and two overseas organizations.
The Technical Institute of Iloilo City will also open their skills training for short-term courses in automotive, food and beverage, computer servicing, cosmetology, and hair and beauty culture.
The City PESO will provide the referral for applicants.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he believes programs and projects should be made accessible to the public who may not have the chance to avail of various services of the city government.
Job generation and employment are also part of the main thrusts of his administration.
City PESO Manager Alan Zaldivar said they are hoping to bring “Trabaho sa Barangay” in all 180 villages of the city.
Job seekers from Arevalo and nearby places must bring an application letter and bio-data during the job fair.*
