IBC submits road infra report to LGUs in Iloilo
The Iloilo Business Club Inc. has turned over their proposed road infrastructure report to local chief executives of several local government units.
Leah Lara, executive director of IBC, led the turn-over of the report to Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, and Iloilo Board Member Jet Rojas, who represented Gov. Arthur Defensor.
Lara said the report contains priority road infrastructure projects for Iloilo City and neighboring towns intended to decentralize the business center.
It also proposes road networks, bridges, road widening and alternative lanes.
The whole proposed projects, if materialized, could cost up to P2.25 billion worth, she said.
Lara said the projects will sustain economic growth in the entire region, especially in the towns of Alimodian, Cabatuan, Dumangas, Leganes, Leon, Maasin, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, San Miguel, Sta. Barbara and Zarraga, among others.
Meanwhile, Mabilog said his administration will support the proposed road projects in cooperation with various government agencies and the private sector stakeholders.
Rojas said the province of Iloilo will definitely benefit if the proposed road networks get the nod from the national government as well as the support of foreign funding organizations.
In drafting the proposal, the IBC received technical assistance from the Research Education and Institutional Development (REID) Foundation supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Asia Foundation.
Enrico Basilio, president of REID Foundation, said the turn-over of the road infrastructure report signals the start of real work for the LGUs and its partners.*PNA
