Did President Aquino Dick Tracy his cabinet men at the start?
During his campaign sorties in the provinces before the May 10 elections, he pledged to the electorate that he will eliminate graft and corruption in his administration. The campaign promise was based on the integrity of his Cabinet men, he will select who will as much as possible make themselves saints and less of sinners. The men and women chosen by President Aquino should be above board and their private lives are beyond reproach. But the Holy Bible says no man is perfect except Jesus Christ. Man is a sinner by nature and unless sinners come to repentance and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, their destination after leaving earth is the eternal lake of fire.
President Aquino should read the Bible and conduct Bible study among his Cabinet men and associates on weekend. By doing so, the President can inculcate divine honesty among his men and the fear of God. When government officials and men-women have the fear of God, they are convicted when they attempt to commit graft and corruption even in a small way. Introduce God in the government service, and God will heal the land of the Philippines and make the people right with God.
President Aquino has been in public office for nearly three months but his DILG undersecretary has already been reported involved in the gambling snafu, if the reports of several Manila dailies are to be gospel truth. Earlier, another Aquino’s favorite Cabinet man was tagged in the hostage taking incident. Will there another Cabinet man to follow and make the campaign slogan of Aquino a laughing stock?
How can President Aquino redeem his reputation at this early stage of his six-year term? The President knows better with the aid of his truly honest men and women in his administration. There are many honest and godly people in the Aquino regime who desire good governance and many of them are men and women of God. God loves honest people but abhors the wicked ones.
President Aquino should be firm in his decision for he said in the campaign trail that the “People are his boss.” Many people told him to replace his two erring Cabinet men but up to now they are still in his official family. His erring Cabinet men are not sensitive to public criticism and the President himself is probably waiting for the right time to reshuffle his closest men.
The President will be hampered in his good service to people and country as long as he has men-women who are doubtful in character to public service.
Former President Arroyo has been criticized due to her alleged abusive people behind him. Men and women closest to Gloria Arroyo were also blamed for the anomalies in the past administration. Will Aquino not change his way of governing and do away with the garbage in the environment? Truly, men and women closest to the President helped him in the last elections. But will he sacrifice to friendship than the welfare of the people whom Aquino said his “boss.” Let’s wait for the next move of the President!
