Iloilo mayors, police chiefs train on crisis management
Mayors in Iloilo province and their respective police chiefs gathered at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol conference room yesterday for a seminar-workshop on crisis management.
The seminar-workshop was organized by the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo Chapter headed by its president Anilao Mayor Ma. Teresa Debuque.
Debuque said the seminar-workshop was convened to equip local chief executives and the police chiefs enough knowledge on how to face crisis situations in their respective localities.
She said the activity was prompted by the bungled rescue attempt on a hostaged bus in Manila last August 23.
Debuque said the failure should serve as a lesson among officials and police chiefs to ensure that the same mistake will not be repeated.
Resource speakers were from the Police Regional Office 6, including
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, police regional director; Senior Supt. Ernesto Tesoro Jr., deputy regional director for administration; and Supt. Ranulfo Demiar, regional public information officer.
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. also joined the affair later where he congratulated the mayors for organizing the seminar-workshop.
Topics discussed were on crisis management, dynamics of a crime/ hostage situation, and media relations.*
