Firms in Iloilo, Guimaras asked to submit survey questionnaires
The provincial office of the National Statistics Office is asking sample establishments in the city and province of Iloilo and Guimaras to accomplish and submit the questionnaires distributed to them last month.
The questionnaires are part of the 2009 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry and the two other rider surveys being conducted by the NSO.
NSO Iloilo Statistician II Nelida Amolar said there are about 435 sample establishments selected and given the survey questionnaires for the 2009 ASPBI in Iloilo and Guimaras.
Amolar said establishments may submit the questionnaires to the NSO Office or may call the office for collection or pick-up as they are now in the process of collecting, field and manual editing of the questionnaires until October 15.
A continuing activity of the NSO, the 2009 ASPBI aims to collect and generate information on the structure and trends of economic activities not only in Iloilo and Guimaras but in the entire country for the year 2009. The other two rider surveys are the 2009 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT) and 2009 Survey of Tourism Establishments in the Philippines (STEP).
The SICT seeks to gather and generate information on the availability, distribution and access/utilization of information and communication technology in business and industries in the country.
STEP, meanwhile, shall provide data on the supply and capacity, inventory of facilities and services, employment and revenue and information on indicators for future expansion plans of tourism establishments.
Amolar assured the establishments of the confidentiality of the volunteered information or data for the said survey citing Section 4 of Commonwealth Act 591 that states “Data furnished to the NSO by an individual, corporation, partnership, institution or business enterprise shall not be used as evidence in any public office either as evidence for or against the individual, corporation or business enterprise from whom such data emanates; nor shall data be published except in the form of summaries or statistical tables in which no reference to an individual, corporation or business enterprise shall appear.”
She said the support of the establishments will greatly contribute to the success of the said surveys which are important to policy makers and government’s efforts and future plans.*PIA6
