Nursing student slay suspect faces murder
The La Paz Police Station will file a murder case against the suspect in the killing of 20-year-old nursing student Dominique Ann Estampador of Villa Hermosa Subdivision, Brgy. Baldoza, Iloilo City.
Senior Insp. Lorenez Losaria said findings show that Estampador was not raped or robbed. None of her personal belongings was found missing.
The suspect, Rex de la Peña, 28, was earlier convicted for anti-fencing law violation.
He was arrested at around 5:30 p.m. Friday and noon of Saturday, he admitted that he stabbed Estampador, a senior student at Iloilo Doctors’ College, after he got angry over her response to his offer to bring her home.
Investigation showed witnesses saw the suspect approach the victim who was walking home at around 10:30 p.m.
When De la Peña asked to accompany her, she responded that she’s no longer a child so she can find her way home.
He then went after Estampador and stabbed her several times. The victim’s body was found slumped in a canal inside the subdivision early morning of Friday.
Police said Estampador bore 12 stab injuries on the different parts of her body.
Her bag, containing her mobile phone and other personal belongings, was found several meters away from her body.
Also seen near the victim’s bag was a slipper believed to be owned by the suspect.*
