Credibility of upcoming barangay election
There is not one legal or non-legal organization in the Philippines that people deserve to emulate. Except a few foundations in the country that deserve to be called honest and trusted. Even Congress and the judiciary are reportedly tainted with unsound politics. The Almighty God knows very well whose these organizations are, an organization not designed to help their fellowmen but their own self-interest and personal ambition.
Before barangay officials and council members are hesitant to serve the barangays as many of them are God-fearing and true Christians. Today’s situation in the barangays is far different. Everybody wants to be elected in the barangay council because they have ulterior motives. There are only a few Christian candidates running for the barangay election and they deserve to be voted upon. But there are those who are even unqualified to be barangay captains, without any good educational background and firm moral discipline. Disastrous for a barangay with this kind of head. In some cases this writer was told that there is gold chest in the barangay treasury and even if one runs away with millions of pesos, nothing is done to give justice to the poor constituents in the barangay.
We of course salute those barangay candidates whose purpose is to serve God and the people. They are neither after money nor honor but service to the people and the barangay and God Almighty. “An honest man is the noblest creation of God,” says the Holy Scripture.
Hundreds of barangay candidates have signed up at the Commission on Elections offices all over the country. Many will spend hundreds of thousands just to get elected. Others will mortgage their properties to buy votes and offer drinks to the voters. But the humble ones who could not even spend a centavo, so to say, still be elected?
What will be the future of the country if even up to the barangay level people are not honest? They commit anomalies and before their cases in court are terminated they are no longer in power. The righteous ones will directly go to heaven while the wicked and corrupt officials and members will face the judgment of God or go directly to hell.
Happy are those who are in the Lord and obey His commandments for in the end, the kingdom of God is awaiting them. Narrow is the road going to heaven but wide is the road going to destruction. Choose today whom you will serve, God or mamon. As for our household, we will serve the Lord and walk righteously and holy in His presence till God comes. There is everything to gain when one serves God but everything to lose when serving Satan. May our God guide the honest barangay candidates in their quest to serve the barangays not for glory and honor but for God’s glory and kingdom.
Better to be a clean voter than wicked and dishonest candidate!*
