Army’s 3rd ID subordinate leaders undergo operational, admin training
To enhance and build their operational and administrative skills, infantry company commanders of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division underwent a week-long seminar.
Conducted yearly, the seminar put emphasis on commandership, administrative skills, and human rights.
It also aims to gain feedback from the company commanders to aid the 3rd ID in its planning and programming for the efficient accomplishment of its mission.
This year, the company commanders’ seminar was hosted by the 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade based in Camp Gerona, Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, held at the Mambukal Mountain Resort, near the 303rd IB headquarters.
“The seminar is needed because commandership reinforces the way our company commanders handle their soldiers during the conduct of operations and during downtimes in garrison,” 3rd ID spokesperson First Lt. Mark Andrew Posadas said.
The module focuses on handling troops at the company level of command as well as handling different situations and scenarios most likely to be encountered in the field.
Posadas said the administrative skills module focuses on managing the disciplinary, logistics, and fiscal powers granted to the company commander.
“A commander is entrusted with a bigger responsibility in terms of equipment, supply, and the discipline of his men, and he must be able to effectively manage these to efficiently run his company and accomplish the mission,” he said.
Posadas said respect for human rights and the advocacy for promoting human rights was the most important agenda of the seminar.
“With the military’s human rights advocacy reaching its pinnacle with the AFP Human Rights Manual, we in turn want our junior commanders to take the lead in internalizing this advocacy and impart it on their soldiers,” he added.*
