Business sector assured of action against crimes
The business community in Iloilo City is worried over the recent crime incidents in the city as this could badly affect local economy in the long run.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he is aware of the worries of the business community, especially that the city is gearing towards increasing its investments and promotions project to lure more investors.
Mabilog said he has ordered the city police office to hasten their investigations on the various crimes as it do not bid well for prospective investors.
He said the police chief and the heads of the police precincts in the seven districts have been instructed to step-up their police works or “heads will roll.”
The mayor said he hopes the new Police Regional Office 6 chief has an effective strategy to fight crime in Iloilo.
Mabilog admitted he is not happy with the present crime reports, including recent murders and stabbing incidents.
He said the business community has already expressed its concern to him and very eager to help in the city’s police needs if necessary.
Earlier, the mayor boasted that the city’s crime solution rate has increased to more than 76 percent since July this year.
He said the city government is keen on improving the police force so as not to scare businesses away.*PNA
