WV police recruits to take oath soon
Applicants accepted for police service during the recent recruitment process of the Police Regional Office 6 are expected to take oath in the first week of December.
A total of 537 applicants recently finished the panel interview following several months of recruitment process that started last July.
Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol Jr., police regional director, said the latest batch of recruits will fill the vacancies due to retirement, death and dismissal from rolls of some Philippine National Police members.
The PNP aims to hire 15,000 additional personnel nationwide.
Querol said Western Visayas needs more policemen to meet the ideal police-population ratio of 1:500 to 1:800 depending on the situation of the town or city .
He said the increase in number of the region’s police force will also mean better law enforcement and delivery of public safety services.
After the recruits take their oath of office, they will undergo six months of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training School 6 in Bacolod City; six months of Field Training Program in city police stations; and 45 days of PNP Modified Special Counter-insurgency Operations Unit Training at the 6th Regional Public Safety Management Battalion in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
In February, PRO6 also recruited 180 Police Officers 1 who are now undergoing the six-month Field Training Program.*
