Cocaine available in 3 WV cities
In Western Visayas, cocaine is available in the cities of Iloilo, Bacolod and Roxas and is usually supplied by dealers coming from affluent families, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6.
“We have reports of the proliferation of cocaine in these major cities,” Paul Ledesma, PDEA 6 officer-in-charge, told The News Today.
A package of “Samar cocaine” worth P7 million was seized by agents of PDEA 6 and policemen from Guimbal at the house of drug suspect Carlito Buen Jr. on Tuesday.
The “Samar cocaine” is referred to as such because the supply came from the cocaine dumped by a Chinese vessel in Samar in December last year.
Ledesma said in previous years, cocaine users in Western Visayas get their supply from Manila but with the arrival of “Samar cocaine,” supply became abundant prompting users from rich families to engage in selling of cocaine.
Users of cocaine are usually limited to those who can afford it as it sells for P2,500 per gram while “shabu” is available at only P8,000 to P10,000 per gram.
“Now that there is an abundance of cocaine because of the Samar incident, enterprising people are making money out of it to sustain their own addiction,” Ledesma said.
He said the PDEA 6 is monitoring another personality engaged in selling cocaine in the region.*
