UI-PHINMA opens center offering business resources
The University of Iloilo-PHINMA has recently established the Center for Enterprises Development (CED), an organization that makes available more updated and relevant resources relevant to Iloilo’s businesses.
“Entrepreneurship is one of the main thrusts of UI, particularly the College of Management and Accountancy,” Dr. Chito B. Salazar, UI-PHINMA president, said in a press statement.
“Through the Center for Enterprise Development, we aim to provide businesses with useful information and services, at the same time endow our students with relevant knowledge and skills that will aid them in putting up and managing their own businesses.”
Salazar the CED will provide mainly three entrepreneurial services.
“First, CED aims to be the main resource for pertinent knowledge and information. This means it will maintain a Business and Investor Database, make available regular business updates and provide business-mapping services, among others,” he said.
He added that CED will also provide business organization and assistance services, including assistance in business registrations with concerned government agencies, undertaking feasibility studies and providing management consulting services.
“Thirdly, CED aims to provide training and education services,” Salazar said.
It will organize Accounting reviews and short courses for SMEs and microfinance institutions, credit investigation and appraisal, bookkeeping for cooperatives, credit and portfolio management, credit investigation and appraisal, investment and portfolio management, capital markets management, financial management, management research and other business and finance-related services.
Salazar said CED will also act as an honest broker for the concerns of the business community by organizing and facilitating the West Visayas Business Forum, in partnership with The Lopez Group Foundation, Iloilo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iloilo Business Club and Iloilo Economic Development Foundation.*
