Manhunt on vs village chief
Police have launched a manhunt against a village chieftain who shot to death a drunk civilian in Anilao, Iloilo.
Police Officer 2 Arnel Araneta of the Anilao PNP station said they are readying murder charges against Poblacion chairman Meliton Buyco IV for the death of Serafino Balvino of Brgy. Dangula-an.
Investigation showed that Balvino and a certain Ricky Estimada were on their way home from a drinking spree when the shooting incident happened.
While under the influence of liquor, Balvino threatened to shoot Estimada for a still unknown reason. The commotion has reached the attention of the village chief who tried to pacify the victim.
Instead of heeding, the victim attempted to draw his firearm, thus he was shot by the village chieftain on the neck, shoulder and back.
Policemen recovered five spent shells of .22 caliber revolver in the crime scene.
