LPG prices to go up P5/kilo in December
MANILA – Consumers have to bear higher cooking gas prices of as much as P5 per kilogram or P55 per 11 kg tank for December.
LPG Marketers Association president Arnel Ty said they will raise cooking gas prices by P3 per kilogram Wednesday and another P2 for the remaining days of the month to reflect the $ 100 per metric ton increase in the contract price of liquefied petroleum gas.
Ty said LPG contract price rose to $791 per MT from $698 per MT in November and from 4 per MT in September.
“The advise to us is that they are going to do it in a staggered basis. So, P3 tomorrow and the remaining P2 will be done in December. If the exchange rate will not change,” he said.
Other LPG players, Petron, Shell and Total have not raised LPG prices as of press time.
Ty said there is a higher demand for LPG worldwide because of the winter season.
“During the winter season, there are countries that use LPG for heating so they are stockpiling LPG. Even diesel and gasoline for their heating requirements,” he said.
LPG Marketers whose members include Omni Gas, Pinnacle Gas, Island Gas, Cat Gas and Nation Gas will start charging P603 to P613 per 11 kg tank starting Wednesday from P570 to P580 per tank.
