Iloilo’s top taxpayers for 2009 recognized
The top performers in municipal treasury services in Iloilo for 2009 were recently recognized by provincial government in awarding rites held at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
The awardees were determined and identified by the Provincial Treasurer’s Office headed by Melba Sullivan based on their performance in generating revenues for the province.
The seven categories included the following: Top Real Property Taxpayers; Top Performers in Realty Tax Collection; Top Performers in the Collection of Annual Fixed Tax for Delivery Trucks and Vans; Top Performers in Treasury Records Management; Top Performers in Prompt Remittance of Provincial Tax Shares; and Top Performers in the Early Submission of Statement of Receipts and Expanditures Reports.
Recognized as Top Real Property Taxpayers were the United Coconut Planters Bank (Lambunao); Coca Cola Bottlers Phil., Inc. (Pavia); Vitarich Corp. (Pavia); New Panay Agri Ventures Inc.; Crown Communities (Oton); Pryce Gas Inc. (Ajuy); and Benjamin Abalos, Sr. (Leganes).
In the The Top Performers in Realty Tax Collection, the awardees included the towns of San Dionisio, Zarraga, Sta. Barbara, Guimbal, Mina, Cabatuan, Leganes, Barotac Nuevo, Concepcion, and Pavia.
The Top Performers in the Collection of Annual Fixed Tax for Delivery Trucks and Van are: Zarraga, San Enrique, San Miguel, Oton, and Pavia. The Hall of Fame Award went to Cabatuan.
Also, the Top Performers in Tax Records Management are Cabatuan, San Miguel, San Dionisio, New Lucena, and Guimbal. The town of Mina received the Hall of Fame Award.
The towns of Bingawan, Cabatuan, San Rafael, Mina, and Guimbal were awarded as Top Performers in the Prompt Remittance of Provincial Tax Share while in the Top Performers in the Early Submission of Statement of Receipts and Expenditures recognized were the towns of Mina, San Rafael, Bingawan, Zarraga, Calinog, Dueñas, New Lucena, Guimbal, Cabatuan, and Oton.
The awardees received plaques and cash incentives.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. thanked the municipal treasurers and the local government units for helping generate revenues for the provincial government as he cited the importance of efficient tax collection as a vehicle for the survival and growth of the province.*
