Mabilog wants faster issuance of city business, fire permits
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he wants a faster release of business and fire permits to stakeholders and businessmen by next year.
Mabilog said this is necessary to promote a good climate for business in the city, especially to new investors and small entrepreneurs.
He said the city government, including the city accountant and treasurer’s office, the personnel of the licensing and permit office are set to meet with local businessmen, representatives of the various government agencies and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to discuss the city’s business processes.
Mabilog said it is important that the business community and stakeholders express their ideas and suggestions on how to hasten the business permits processing at the City Call. He added that the meeting will also orient them on how business is conducted, including tax incentives and programs.
The mayor said he also hopes that the BFP would be able to streamline the release of Fire and Life Safety Assessment Reports to encourage an active investment among local and foreign businessmen.
He said that some businessmen find it challenging to start doing business in the city due to the slow processing of fire permits in the BFP.
Mabilog said that more changes will be implemented to hasten the release of business permits.
By January, all business permits would be released within a month’s time as long as all requisites are followed, he added.*PNA
