BFP firefighters on alert for holidays
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Iloilo City is on alert for possible fire incidents during the holidays.
City Fire Marshall Rodolfo Denaga said they are conducting fire safety inspections in all businesses and in the event discrepancies are found, the business owners are given time period to correct any violations.
Distribution of information campaign materials on fire prevention is one of their activities during the holiday season.
Denaga said the information materials they distribute are printed in the local dialect so that most people will fully understand its message.
Listed by the Bureau of Fire Protection as the common causes of fire are: electrical flammable liquids, stoves/LPG tank, cigarettes butts/matches, open flames, combustion/heat/bonfire, sparks/explosives.
The public is also cautioned against the use of illegal electrical connections, overloading of electrical circuits, use of improvised fuse wires for busted fuses as these causes circuit overloads and fires.
Denaga also reminded the public to exercise caution in using firecrackers during the Yuletide season as this may also cause fire.
