IDFI to rent generator set for standby power during Dinagyang
To ensure that the highlight of Dinagyang Festival on Jan. 27 will not be interrupted the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) would rent a generator set to be used as standby power at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand.
IDFI executive director Ben Jimena said they will rent one generator set for staging area number 1 to ensure the continuity of performance in the area in the event a power interruption occur.
Jimena noted that most of the tourists and visitors watch Dinagyang performances at the Freedom Grandstand.
Jimena said it is part of their contingency measure as there is no guarantee that the city will have continuous power supply during the celebration.
The blackout will not only affect the conduct of the competition but it will create bad impression among the visiting tourists, he said.
Jimena said the power generator will be on stand by for three days.
In yesterday's press briefing, Jimena urged the competing tribes to memorize the song “Hala Bira Iloilo” for the street dance competition. They have to memorize the song for them to continue their performance in different performance areas should power interruption occurs, he said. The competing groups themselves have to make their own plans, he said.
The competing groups in the Kasadyahan contest will be affected if the power interruption occurs since they have to dance to the tune of the “Hala Bira Iloilo” song for the street dancing. They have to bring their equipment in order to go on with their performances even if there will power disruptions, said Jimena.
