Twenty members of the Barangay Ecclesiastical Council (BEC) of the Parish of Saint Anne in Molo district underwent a livelihood training seminar on powder detergent, dishwashing liquid and fabric softener making.

Renilyn Rojo demonstrate the making
of a powder detergent.
The seminar was given free of charge by the C.E. Greenville Agri-Industrial Development Corporation to the different barangay coordinators last Monday afternoon at the Molo Parish Convent.
The soap making seminar is just one of the livelihood programs designed by Fr. Tomas Delicana, parish priest and Fr. Angelo Colada, assistant parish priest to augment the income of every family particularly those living in the poverty line. They are also set to have a seminar on candle making.
The livelihood training seminar aimed to provide the coordinators insights on making powder detergent, dishwashing liquid and fabric softener. It was also made to encourage the people to engage in small scale business or just make their own household cleaning needs. They could also sell their products to their neighbor at a lowest price.
The barangay coordinators which came from the 18 barangays in Molo district will relay what they have learned to their neighbors.
Listening intently are Mrs. Teddy Manzano
of the Iloilo City National High School,
BEC Coordinator Ana Lim, and Parish
Apostolate Councilor Auditor Eva Villa.
Trainor Ian Buenavista said it will only take a small capital and little time to do the business. One does not also need to use high-tech equipment to produce such products.
The locally made household cleaning and laundry agents smell like those of expensive brands sold in the different supermarkets. The products sold in the market are expensive because the consumers do not only buy the product itself but the brand name, said Buenavista.
Buenavista said one must only have a plastic pail, basin, ladle, water, stove and the needed chemical ingredients. The ingredients can be bought only at the C.E. Greenville Agri-Industrial Corporation.
She said a set of ingredients for powder detergent only cost P440 and another P7 for packaging. She estimated a sale of P780 for one set alone and it will have a net profit of P333.
On the dishwashing liquid, one only needs a capital of P540 for the ingredients. She estimated the sale to P1,200 and a net profit of P660. On the fabric softener business, one must have a capital of P585 for the ingredients. It is estimated to have a sale of P1,600 and a net profit of P585.
