Bamboo Moda: Hablon's new look
Designer PJ Arañador and Ms Model of
the World Ria Bolivar after the show
The evening of November 14 marked a historical event in Iloilo with the first Hablon Fashion Fair, the 'Bamboo Moda' at Paseo Iloilo of Robinsons Place Iloilo. The said show featured the works of International Lifestyle designer, PJ Arañador in his definitive styles. The event was also in line with the 2005 Iloilo Kawayan Market Week (November 14 - 20) held at the same venue. The said show was an eye opener to the fact that 'hablon' is not only limited for special occasions but will definitely suit the diversified Ilonggo lifestyle. It is also an awareness of patronizing our own fabric.
The array of simple to intricately designed cuts from casual to formal wear transfixed the audience as models paraded the ramp. Other than professional models, real people also flaunted PJ's designs in different hues. The event was graced by 2004 Ms. Model of the World, Ria Bolivar. The event was in partnership with the Department of Trade in Industry (DTI), Iloilo Furniture Market Association (IFMA), Ilonggo Producers Association (IPA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), WESVARRDEC, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Iloilo Provincial Government, University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV-SMEDC), ABS-CBN and Robinsons Place Iloilo.
