Boracay, a new look!!! -- A Photo Exhibit
Mandy Rivera writing at the Guestbook.
Like all other visual artists, photographers have their share of capturing reality and expressing them through print. Often they would present simple objects and find angles that will entice the interest of a viewer. A photographer studies his subject such that the frozen images conveys the 'real life'. Thus, the pictures photo artist have in-depth meaning. These pictures speak of emotions or experiences. And one shot tells every detail of the subject. Be it a close-up, a scenery or random effects of colors. At times, photographers take pictures in different ways, presenting the other side of subjects like buildings, structures, places, people and even things.

The works of Dr. Therese J. Robles' in a month-long Photo Exhibit which opened last November 19 at Newpost Supply, Gen. Luna. St., Iloilo City, is a great example of unparalleled art. Robles' work focuses on a theme: 'Boracay, a new look!!!' The said exhibit includes pictures of Boracay from different angles.
Dr. Therese J. Robles is an orthodontist by profession but her love for photography started way back in her college years. The interest came with the magic of capturing moments in life. For her, taking pictures would also depend on her mood. For her, photography is not only taking the picture of something or someone. It is taking notes of basic principles: composition, background, foreground, colors, angles, framing and more. There's also a need of knowing the aesthetic value of the picture, its substance to composition and more. It just doesn't end with colors but also how those shots become lively to the viewers.
The exhibit features more than 30 of her works. All about a new look of Boracay. Shots like children along the algae covered shore, the fishermen by the beach front, the serenity of the known Boracay sunset and others. Robles is also a member of the Photographic Society of Iloilo (PSI) since 1989. She is also on PSI's Hall of Fame. PSI, is founded in 1980 by Bert Ong of Newpost Supply. It started as an association that expressed love and appreciation of beauty through camera. Other Hall of Fame awardees are Dr. Vic Pido, Atty. Paul Go, Mr. Napoleon Sy, Mr. Allan Fajardo, Atty. Bert Ong, Mr. Daniel Justiniani, Dr. Rodolfo Jara-Mesa, and Mr. James Trimañez. The PSI has photo display centers at Hotel del Rio, St. Paul’s Hospital, Iloilo Mission Hospital and the Atrium.
Her other works are also available in a VCD's entitled A Glimpse of Iloilo. The VCD is a collection of her shots about Iloilo. Get a copy of her VCD for only P200, her photos on the exhibit are also on sale. For inquiries visit Newpost Supply at Gen. Luna St. Iloilo. Call 3369156 or 3369164.
