Pro-, anti- coal-fired power plant groups to face off in public hearing

Both pro- and anti- coal-fired power plant groups are expected to face each other today, August 4, in the Multi-purpose Hall of Brgy. Nipa, Concepcion, Iloilo for the public hearing on the proposed 100 megawatt coal-fired power plant in said town.

Treņas upset over omission of city in dev't authority

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas failed to hide his disappointment yesterday upon learning that Iloilo City is not included in the Panay Dev't Authority which was mentioned by Presidential chief of staff Sec. Michael Defensor during the Awarding Ceremony for Best Public Sector Projects, 2005-2006.

New PRO 6 head urges community cooperation in peace and order drive

Newly installed regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Chief Supt. Geary Barias called on the community to join hands with the police in order to curb criminality and maintain peace and order in the region.

Barias made the call in his acceptance speech during the turnover of command held at Camp Martin Delgado last Wednesday, July 2.

Barias who served the Caraga region before being transferred here in Western Visayas replaced Chief Supt. Doroteo Reyes II who retired at the age of 56.
