Why do Filipinos run away from the Philippines?
In the 1980s with P5,000 monthly income, a married couple with three children could live a cheerful life with a few pesos to booth. The children went to school with enough pocket money. A market vendor with a daily sale of P80.00 could eat adobo and fried chicken. A street sweeper with a monthly stipend of P2,000 could send his daughter to college. Farmers and fishermen experienced plentiful harvest. Jeepney and taxi drivers brought home the day's earning with full satisfaction.
Teachers educated their students very well as their monthly take home pay was sufficient to buy shoes, and presentable clothes. Doctors and nurses treated their patients meticulously and went home like contented cows. Ordinary employees both in the government and private offices were attending to their clients with sincere dedication as their monthly income was more than enough.
Today, life is so difficult that Filipinos no longer like to live in their own native land. Medicines, groceries, rice, fish and other household goods are so expensive that an ordinary Filipino can hardly survive. The Value Added Tax (VAT) which President Arroyo had pushed so hard is no doubt the main cause of high prices and difficult life. It did not only affect prices of commodities but salaries of government and private employees as well. Try examining the receipt of eatery and department stores, VAT is bigger than the 20 percent discount given to senior citizens. How about customers who have no 20 percent discount?
Is the VAT supposed to benefit the country's economy? Many of the nation's fake or payrolled economists say that VAT will help the development of the economy. It's only more than one year since the VAT was forced upon people. What happened? Unemployment increased, prices soared to unreachable height, low salaries remain the same, prices of petroleum products go higher and higher with no subsidy from the government.
Why is it that world leaders in Europe, Americas, Asia and the Pacific had given the Philippines a black mark on graft and corruption? When Pres. Arroyo attended the world summit, there were many protests held in Europe and other countries where she visited because of political killings of journalists, and militant leaders and followers.
Eventually, the Philippines will be a ghost country where only the grafters and dishonest people will remain and enjoy stealing the people's money. Honest and true Christian believers may be in the Philippines also but they are protected by the blood of Jesus and guarded by the ministering angels until they are raptured and be with the Lord forever!
Several Evangelists and servants of God say that the Philippines is under curse! Those in the present administration, they may have accumulated millions and billions of pesos and dollars, but can they bring all of their wealth when Jesus Christ come?
