Death toll up to 23, 22 still missing as 25 survive raging waters

Igbaras, Iloilo--Hopes of finding any more survivors in the raging waters of Tangyan River along Igbaras, Iloilo dimmed as members of rescue groups now similarly focused current efforts to search and retrieval operations from Monday's "search and rescue."

Spare tire saves woman

Igbaras, Iloilo--The spare tire of the ill-fated jeepney which was carried away by the raging Tangyan River in Igbaras, Iloilo saved a 36-year old woman who managed to firmly hold to it despite strong water current.

Murder, parricide raps up vs Tan brothers

The Court finally has jurisdiction on the celebrated massacre of Filipino-Chinese businessman, his wife and 6 year-old daughter, almost nine months into the grissly killing.

This, as information for two counts of murder and parricide charges were filed and raffled off yesterday (Tuesday) to Branch 32 of the 6th Regional Trial Court (RTC) here.

Bolilao fire victims may get financial aid

City Mayor Jerry Treñas is contemplating of giving financial assistance to 37 families whose houses were razed by fire Monday noon at Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district. Fire investigators estimated the damage to properties to reach P1.2 million.

City closes Ticud bridge anew

City Mayor Jerry Treñas has ordered the City Disaster Coordinating Council (CDCC) to close the bridge in Barangay Ticud, La Paz district in order to avoid accidents like what happened in the town of Igbaras, Iloilo where more than 20 people died and scores missing.

Treņas answers Drilon's query on CDF use

Mayor Jerry Treñas still has kind words to Senator Franklin Drilon even if the latter questioned how he spent the P58.065 Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) which the Ilonggo senator gave to the city.

WV lady corn farmer wins nat'l search

Iloilo, as an agricultural province, has another feather to its cap. A lady farmer is adjudged as the national winner in the search for outstanding quality corn farmer and she is also the first lady of one of the towns of Iloilo. She bested other farmers who are all males and are from the top corn producing provinces. She produces the best corn in the country in terms of quality.

Perez and Pandan Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI welcomed the 30-men delegation of the Women in Travel -- Manila, as they visited Pandan for a three-day familiarization of the town's proud tourist destination, Bugang River. The group was headed by their President Alicia San Juan of Rajah Travel Corp.
