League of Cities assists in Asean Summit preparation
Some members of the League of Cities of the Philippines will be helping out in the preparations for the forthcoming summit meeting of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Cebu City.
This was confirmed by Iloilo City mayor and, at the same time, League of Cities president Jerry P. Treñas. He said the big event entails a lot of preparation and he is certain that the organizer needs a lot of help it could get to facilitate the smooth conduct of the summit.
Treñas confirmed that he received a letter from the organizer urging the LCP to provide them support. He did not specify, though, the city he would send to Cebu.
Meanwhile, Treñas said the gathering of the head of states of the 10-ASEAN member-countries in the Philippines this December is a great opportunity for the Philippines. He said this is one way for the country to showcase its best to its Asian neighbors.
Likewise, the summit would open new areas for investments and forging of more relationships between and among the member countries.
