Former President Fidel V. Ramos, in his visit to the Office of Governor Niel D. Tupas, Sr. at the New Iloilo Provincial Capitol at noon on Friday, brought along with him some books as his donation to the provincial library.
Among the books the former president presented to Tupas are his biography along with that of his mother-in-law Josefa Jara Martinez, who is a pride of Iloilo and the founder of the Young Women's Christian Association, an enduring non-government organization.
Ramos, in presenting to the governor his biography "FVR Through the Years" written by Ben Cal of the Philippines News Agency, explained that the book is a record of the contemporary affairs of the country which he would like to impart with the Ilonggo readers.
Another book that the former president gave to the governor is the Golf Guide, which he said, should soon be revised as the airport of international standard in between Sta. Barbara and Cabatuan towns in Iloilo province has become operational.
The Golf Guide mentions the oldest golf course in the country and the Far East which is the Sta. Barbara Golf Course in Iloilo's Second District.
A golf afficionado, Ramos also gave Tupas, who is an avid lawn tennis player, golf balls and a signature cap.
The former president commended the governor for his effective leadership and the major projects he has undertaken such as the P3-billion airport of international standard which is now under construction.
