6th Mayor Jerry P.Treñas Cup Awards Night
Last January 25, 2007, the Iloilo Golf and Country Club 6th Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Cup culminated with a dinner and awarding ceremony at the Amigo Terrace Hotel. The fun-filled event was made possible by the IGCC Working Committee headed by the 6th Mayor's Cup Chairman Oscar Nava, Vice Chairman Henry Go, Assistant Vice Chairman Johnny Young and Tournament Director Butch Jamerlan.
The crowd perpetually indulged in the soothing music of the Totong Villaruz Band while they eagerly waited for the program to start. The evening started with a solemn prayer offered by Amatalio "TioTalio" Viray, the country's oldest golfer. After the 6th Mayor's Cup Chairman Oscar Nava warmly welcomed everyone, Anne Korean, a Korean golfer and ballroom dancer, rendered a graceful number which left the audiences in awe. Hearts were touched when Dr. Linda Que's Emmanuel Special Children danced and sang with this year's Miss Dinagyang, Weng Diaz, and her court.
Right after the said performance, the children, assisted by the newly-crowned Dinagyang Queen and her princesses, went from table to table to gather donations for the Emmanuel Special Children Foundation. At the end of the evening, the children were able to gather a total of PhP 40,000.00.
Foreign and local guests had a taste of the Dinagyang fever with a brief yet splendid performance from last year's 1st Runner-up, Tribu Silak. The crowd went crazy with a surprise number from the Village Pipol with a little help from Toti Qureben and Dr. Tony Jaranilla.
During the said program, IGCC President Frankie Locsin and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed their gratitude for the people behind the success of this year's Mayor's Cup. The hailed stand-up comedian and humor genius Gary Lising did not fail to fill the room with laughters with his witty jokes.
On that same night, 27 major prizes were raffled aside from the Mulligan Gimme. Trophies and prizes were also awarded to the winners of the 6th Mayor's Cup.
Marita Soriano, Winston Santos and Toti Queruben efficiently served as Master of Ceremonies.
