PDA scholars invades Iloilo
The country's hottest reality TV stars, the Pinoy Dream Academy scholars, was in the city last Saturday (January 27, 2007) as a part of the ABS-CBN Kapamilya Caravan. PDA Grand scholar Yeng Constantino, Jay-R Siaboc, Ronnie Liang, Irish Fullerton, Panky Trinidad, Richard Peralta, Eman Abatayo, RJ Jimenez, Davey Langit, Rosita Bareng, Gemma Fritzgerald and Ivan Lambatan were warmly welcomed by the Ilonggos during their stay.
Members of the local print and broadcast media had their chance to ask these young talents about their recent projects and the controversies that they have been to inside and outside the Academy during a press conference held at the Buto't Balat Restaurant, Diversion Road. The scholars eagerly answered the questions that were asked. Iloilo's sole representative to this elite circle of young talents, Eman Abatayo, a former member of a local band here in Iloilo, enthusiastically said that he together with three other scholars -- Panky, Davey, and Ivan formed a group dubbed as "Sibalog", a name taken from the city of origin of these scholars (Cebu, Baguio and Iloilo). The new band, where each members will be playing an instrument, was commissioned by the network to write and sing the Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 official soundtrack.
On the other hand, RJ Jimenez, who's career sky-rocketed after his song "Miss Kita Kung Tuesday" became a big hit, thanked the Ilonggos for their support. Meanwhile, Irish Fullerton denied the issues about her being a snob. "It's because I look mataray that's why people perceive me to be but I'm really not," she dismissed.
PDA champion Yeng Constantino was kind enough to answer the issues about her and co-scholar RJ Jimenez. She said that she has to focus herself on her career first prior to anything else and that she vowed to keep her feet on the ground despite of her fast-rising career. She also thanked the people who have bought her recently-released debut album entitled "Salamat".
Later that afternoon, the PDA scholars rendered a talent showdown at the 3rd Floor Event Center of SM City Iloilo.
The Pinoy Dream Academy Mall Tour and Kapamilya Caravan was sponsored by ABS-CBN Iloilo and SM City Iloilo.
