Rational Insanity
Politics and festivals
All right, I must admit, like everybody else I am currently in the Dinagyang festival trying to get the fete into my system.I don't quite like festivals that much because I have been an organizer of many a festival in the past and I have more than just an inkling of the kind of work that goes into festival preparations. It is for this reason that when I attend a festival I can't quite shrug the exhaustion of festival preparation off me even when I am just one of those joining in the merrymaking.Anyway, there is a grim side to festivals that we all probably know about already. This grim reality is the same reality that drove me to leave my dear Roxas City for this weekend and just chill out in the famous Dinagyang Festival. That horror is the horror of politics.
I am glad that the organizers have decided to de-politicize the festival.I hate how politicians are nowadays - I repeat - I HATE how politicians are nowadays.I know that hate is a strong word and in this case, I decided to use it because if there is a stronger word, I would opt for that.
Politicians have become more and more 'garapal' in their pursuit for power. They would brave even the most shameless of acts just to secure their name in the minds of voters.I have seen the worse of the worst when it comes to politicians.I have seen PLDT circuit boxes spray painted with some hopeful's name, constructions sites with humongous pictures of the politicians connected to these projects, even those who go to as low as judging BARANGAY MISS GAY contests just so their names would be mentioned!Lame!I understand that for a politician to be able to ensure his post in any kind of government massive campaign is necessary to win the hearts and minds of the people, however, there is always a time and place for everything.Hypocrisy is the name of the game among politicians of our day. What with politicians who have been rabidly opposing the administration surprisingly shifting over to the administration ticket because their slot in the opposition's ticket has been forfeited? Then here they are rambling about morality, loyalty, and sincere service?Who in his right mind would fall for this kind of masquerade? There is no single politician I know of who has won a position in any election who did not deceive the voting public with their hypocritical pronouncements.I am not even hitting at their promises at this rate because if I did, there would be nothing left of their pig-faced, idiotic, muddy, lower than amoebiatic and streptococcal dispositions. They are all the same to begin with.
They smear tradition with their uncanny ability to stick to the looked-down-upon culture of corruption, hypocrisy, disloyalty, andindolence.Did it ever occur to you guys that all the politicians we have nowadays are not only 'trapos' to begin with but also un-Filipino to the highest degree?Do you want to have a Philippines headed by people who are not Filipino in their actions, decisions, andejaculations? I wouldn't but what can I do?I am only one voice crying out in the wilderness, and besides look at our choices? We really don't have much choice, do we?
Anyway, with politics stirring the air as early as now, I would rather just chill out in a festival where I don't find some filthy politician delivering a lengthy message that is seventy percent greetings and salutations, how much emptier can one's head get?Is the Filipino voting public really this passive nowadays to settle for something that we would not have settled for even just a score ago? Think about it!Think hard!
Be rational; be insane...every once in a while!!!TTFN!
