WV cops undergo training on internal security operations
One hundred seventy policemen from Western Visayas are currently undergoing training on Internal Security Operations conducted by the elite Special Action Force.
The 170 participants come from the 6th Regional Mobile Group, 14 Provincial Mobile Groups and 2 City Mobile Groups.
The one-month training is being conducted at the 606th Provincial Mobile Group in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
PNP Special Action Force Director Chief Supt. Leocadio Santiago graced the opening ceremony held at Camp Delgado last week.
The training aims to enhance the capability of policemen in its anti-insurgency campaign.
To note, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has called the PNP for a paradigm shift from a purely support role to a more active one in the anti-insurgency campaign.
Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr. said the training will further enhance the “shared responsibility” of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the conduct of the Internal Security Operations against insurgents in Panay island and the Province of Negros Occidental.
