Caution: Mental damnation
Today's tete a tete no longer consists of witty exchange of banters, intellectual discussions, and stimulating dialogues with interchanging of opinions and viewpoints that grippingly arouses neural circuits to function with much bravado. Given a group of people with no specific age range, such contents in usual conversations no longer satisfy an idyllic gathering or even one that is expected of something mentally challenging to talk about. Over cup of coffees and pack of killer sticks, both young and adult's past time is now predominantly dominated by the fast rising acumen of the advancements in technology and the trivial intervention of media which alarmingly influences the assemblage of minds with nothing but transitory ideas. Notice what the crux of conversations are nowadays. Mental famine is excruciatingly taking over.
Poverty of the mind is a crucial adversary to society's progression. Without mental capacity the world will be on a headway to deterioration due to lack of cerebral expansion and enhancement. It is happening to our own country particularly. What reigns in the mind of today's generation no longer venerate the magnitude of the importance of brain food. Books are now considered as mere prints unworthy of time, failing in the judgment that the failure to read is the failure to feed the mind. So true that, evidently, due to lack of intellectual knowledge and learning, swapping of formidable ideas is averted to habitual trade of senseless and insignificant matters or issues and are being carried out in practices where a prerequisite is just common sense. While developments in technology are heralded for the convenience they offer, too much reliance on it unconsciously creates more havoc to the impending decay of our future's improvement.
The indication of mental poverty is apparent today as it is reflected in many ways. Making ghastly decisions and choices such as obtuse voting is one. Without question, this is one worst epitome of idiocy. Where youth is expected to be, they are nowhere to be found. But shopping malls, cinemas, gaming stations, billiard halls, and clubs are swarmed with them, thrashing each other with words disclosed for censorship and spending every bit of their precious time on physical scrutiny than on anything else. Most of their confidence is not found on their head but amusingly on who they want to emulate depending on coolness and fashionable factor.
In search for knowledge, we search for the liberty in finding the truth, in nonconformity in false idealisms, and the sovereignty of our own beliefs. But what happens when no one no longer interests in the coolness of the mind? If most continue to indulge in brainless pursuits of self-assurance, our future will wilt in the tarmac of idiotic doom.
The eloquence of thoughts need not be expressed nor be viewed as being geeky or nerdy but as prowess against physiological weakness. The power of the mind in its vastness, more than anything else can be gained but can never be taken away by anybody. Where physical beauty now sets a convention of sorts, its consequences pose an indelible harm to the principal aspects of individuals as a whole.
It is anyone's prerogative to nourish what he feels is critical to his growth. But alas, the mind is now rarely being equipped to sensibleness.
The mind is a social tool, an instrument of influence, and a catalyst to augment what is impossible. As we move, there is so much to feel, learn, know, absorb, listen, understand, and recognize. So read, inquire, interpret, study, observe and explore the endless possibilities of what's out there. You might be surprised where your mind can take you.
