Iloilo Capitol saves 25 percent on electricity bill
The Iloilo Provincial Capitol reported about 25 percent decrease in its electrical consumption expenditures compared to its previous electrical billings.
The decrease in electric billings was achieved after the provincial capitol started sourcing its power supply from the state-owned power producer.
From March to April, the Capitol only paid P958,462.92 for its electricity - P459,414.24 to National Transmission Corporation (Transco) and P499,048.68 to National Power Corporation (Napocor).
Last March 26, the Capitol started to directly source its power from the Napocor with the finalization of its interconnection with the Transco. The provincial government has a power sub-station.
The provincial government used to pay an average of monthly more than P1.2 million electric bill to Panay Electric Company (Peco).
"If we continue to source our power supply from Peco, we will still be paying more than P1 million for our monthly electrical expenditures," Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada said.
Apart from the decrease in monthly electric bill, Mejorada said the provincial capitol barely experience power interruptions since the direct connection to Napocor.
