P45M supplemental budget still under study
Mayor Jerry Treñas's request for Supplemental Budget (SB) No. 1 amounting to P45,480,680.34 was referred to the committee on appropriations of the Sangguniang Panlungsod chaired by Councilor Jose Espinosa III.
Thirty percent or P14 million of the said budget is intended for the 10 percent salary increase of employees from July to December 2007.
The approval of the SB No. 1 is expected to be made before the new set of councilors assume their posts in July. The present city council still have four sessions before the end of their term on June 30, 2007.
The sources of the fund for the supplemental budget was already identified by City Treasurer Katherine Tingson. She has issued a certification indicating the sources of the proposed budget. The sources of fund will be the P38,699,370.34 retained earnings; P6,407,310 Internal Revenue Allotment from January-March 2007; P14,000 reversion of current year appropriation for furniture and equipment outlay at the Sangguniang Panlungsod and P360,000 for the late filing of sworn statements at the City Treasurer's Office and the City Assessor's Office.
In the supplemental budget, Treñas allotted P592,547 for the city's seven task forces. Of the seven task forces created by the city government, the Task Force on House Re-Numbering (for Arevalo and Molo districts) has the bigger budget with P280,000.
The Task Force Boltahe comes next with P102,000. It is being followed by Task Force Asis with P49,657. The task forces on Anti-Littering, Sidewalk and Jaywalking has P43,815 each. The Task Force Cooperative was allocated P29,210.
Also included in SB No. 1 is the lighting of San Rafael-Tabucan road in Mandurriao district amounting to P440,000. The newly opened road network is used as alternative route of Mandurriao-Molo, Villa and Oton jeepneys.
SB No. 1 also alloted P500,000 for the renovation of the Social Hygiene Building in Brgy. Tanza, City Proper.
