Purr
The WVSU acquaintance party
A warrior at the party
To mark the opening of the school year, an educational institution holds an acquaintance party. As the word implies, this is a gathering of students from all year levels so they could get to know each other better. Or if not, they could at least party together!
Students from the Janiuay campus
For the students of West Visayas State University, their acquaintance party was held last June 19 at the school's grounds. Mind you, it was a fun-filled event. The rain did not even stop the students from cheering and laughing as they participated in the activities. One University Student Council (USC) officer told Purr that the rain is part of the acquaintance party tradition. True enough, the students were prepared with their umbrellas. They already expected it!
Mr and Miss Acquaintance
first runners-up are Carlo Jay
Laud and Dawn Marie
Jalando-on from the Integrated
Laboratory School and College
of Education respectively
The program, which started in the afternoon and ended late in the evening, consisted of activities like messages, opening salvo, search for Mr and Miss Acquaintance or "Malakas at Maganda" and the Itaktak Mo sa Kembot dance contest. There was also a presentation of the different colleges. WVSU has nine colleges in the main campus and five extension and external campuses.
Institute of Management won in the
dance contest
The event was organized by the USC under the helm of Ma. Linda Rauanne Dupit as over-all chairperson with the help of members John Rey Java for 'Itaktak Mo sa Kembot' Dance Contest and Jude Ryan Seares for Malakas at Maganda '07. These active students are under the tutelage of USC advisers, Professors Ricky Magno and Leah Mae Cabalfin.
To the USC, congratulations to a successful event. Your party rocks!
